The controlled use of ozone is beneficial to Koi.
It kills parasites, pathogenic bacteria and algal
spores. The smallest model is ample for a
4,000-gallon pond; the largest will produce
25 grams per hour of ozone, which would be
enough for 28,000 gallons. Equally, the ozone
can be stepped down for ponds or quarantine
systems of as little as 500 gallons. The air-cooled
generators are held within finned aluminium
housing, conducting heat away very fast.
High-frequency, high-voltage technology with
soft start modulation eases the tubes gently
up to working temperature, so that the 12-gram
generator consumes just 128 watts, or just
over 10 watts per gram.
